The IAAF High Performance Training Centre – Oceania, is a part of the IAAF’s network of High Performance Training Centres established by the IAAF.
The IAAF High Performance Training Centres (HPTC) provide a centre for excellence for the training and development of international class athletes and coaches. The first HPTC was opened by the IAAF in 1997. Since then, the IAAF has opened HPTCs in Africa (Dakar, Mauritius, Eldoret), Asia (Kuala Lumpur), North America, Central America and Caribbean (Kingston), and in Oceania (Auckland).
Located at the Millennium Institute of Sport & Health, on Auckland’s North Shore, the High Performance Training Centre - Oceania is a partner of the Millennium Institute of Sport & Health. The Institute features state of the art sporting facilities with a focus on track & field, aquatics sports, strength and conditioning, comprehensive sport science services, sports medicine and rehabilitation facilities, and on-site accommodation.

The facilities at the Centre include: Eight lane Rekortan Track, with four horizontal jump pits, two High Jump fans, two Pole vault pits, two each of Shot, Discus, Hammer competition sites, two Javelin runways, full electronic timing, and floodlighting for night training/competition. There is a specific Throws Training area, with a Javelin runway, two Discus and Hammer circles and two shot circles.

The Indoor Facilities for athletics include: a six-lane 60m with 20m deceleration zone Mondo surface, Horizontal Jumping pit (with force plate capability), Pole vault dome, High jump fan with force plate capability, Strength and conditioning equipment, and Video analysis cameras and timing gates.

Accommodation for athletes is provided at “The Lodge”. It is a purpose built facility and allows ready access to all of the training facilities and provides relaxing lounges and accommodation to a 4-star standard. There are 68 beds available through a variety of rooming options, including five “long stay suites”, 25 twin rooms, and five twin-bed altitude simulation rooms. There are three kitchens and three lounge areas. Each room has Satellite TV. Recreational facilities include: a Games Room, Internet/email workstations, Outdoor BBQ area, and a Spa Pool. Internationally renowned caterers “Eurest” operate from on-site kitchens and offer a variety of dining and catering options. Sports menus developed by nutritionists ensure a nutritionally controlled and balanced menu for The Lodge guests. In addition a new Subway® restaurant based at the complex will be opening in April 2006.
Athletes who are resident at the centre have complimentary access to all of the facilities at the Millennium Institute of Sport & Health and these include:

An Olympic Swimming Pool (50m x 25m – 10 lane, depth 1.2m – 2m), Therapeutic Pool, Saunas, an Olympic Weight Lifting Area, a Strength Training Area, a Cardio Area, a Full Medical facility offering General Medicine, Physiotherapy, Massage, Podiatry, Nutrition Evaluation, Sports Psychology, a Video and Biomechanics Analysis Suite, a Sports Science (Physiology) Suite, the Sports Library, a Study / Workroom for visiting coaches and athletes, three gymnasia, and eight Tennis Courts.
The athletics coaches who are contracted to the HPTC are all fully accredited coaches, with years of national and international experience.
